A word that has been coming up for me lately is courage. One of the definitions of courage is the ability to do something that frightens oneself. I feel that there are different levels of courage. I think courage can be as subtle as viewing situations from new perspectives, being honest with your feelings, and being true to yourself; or as grand as making big life transitions, taking risks, and being open to giving and receiving love. The space in our lives that we can imbue with courage is infinite.
Where in your life are you able to acknowledge the ways that you are courageous? Are you able to help those around you become aware of the courage they have in their life? Where are we able to support ourselves and those around us just a smidgen more with uplifting words of confirmation for the bravery we take in our daily lives?
Last week I cut six inches off my hair. To some this may not be a big deal, but for me it was. I've never had my hair this short but felt an urge to take the risk. Some may not know that I was teased quite a bit when I was younger for having big frizzy hair and it's caused me to be self-conscious about it. Getting it cut like this was a way for me to overcome my patterns of insecurity, and the compliments I've received on it have been very uplifting. Take a moment right now to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and acknowledge at least one courageous thing you have done recently. Keep being amazing, and keep taking courageous acts where you feel called to.
